James Milner and Jordan Henderson classy gesture to losing Chelsea players spotted after Liverpool win

James Milner and Jordan Henderson showed their class after winning the Carabao Cup by consoling the Chelsea players on collection of their runners-up medals.

Jurgen Klopp's side claimed their ninth League Cup title, the most of any English side, after a dramatic contest with Chelsea in the capital which went the distance.

Caoimhin Kelleher proved to be the hero after scoring the winning penalty for the Reds and watched on as his opposite number, Kepa Arrizabalaga, blasted over the bar.

A number of the Liverpool players out on the pitch will know all too well how it feels to suffer defeat at Wembley, having suffered a shootout loss to Manchester City in the 2016 Carabao Cup final.

With this thought potentially in the back of their minds, both Henderson and Milner took the time to shake the hands of the Chelsea players as they made their way back onto the pitch after collecting their medals.

Henderson was part of the last Reds team to taste success in this competition, prevailing on penalties against Cardiff City a decade ago.

Milner, meanwhile, was on the losing side of the 2010 League Cup showpiece fixture with Aston Villa but later tasted success at Manchester City in 2014 against Sunderland.
