Defiant James McFadden has laughed off questions over the best player in the Scottish Premiership as he was put on the spot over his wind up of Kris Boyd.
The pair clashed on air after Rangers favourite Boyd has previously named Alfredo Morelos as the best player in the Scottish Premiership and has also tipped Ryan Kent for the crown while on punditry duties for Sky Sports during the early part of the campaign. However, following Celtic star Jota's sensational strike against Kilmarnock McFadden was quick to dismiss Boyd's previous comments as he talked up the Portuguese winger as the top performer in the top flight.
The discussion has rumbled on throughout the week with the likes of Barry Ferguson also rubbishing Boyd's early season take as he backed the Celtic ace as the early season frontrunner. And McFadden was keen to emphasise that he stood by his take following Sunday's clash at Rugby Park.
When asked about the fallout of him and Boyd's tiff and if he though t Jota was the best in the league, McFadden laughed telling Sky Sports: "If you look at his form, without doubt he is the best performer. He is the best player in the league.
"You sometimes get loan players who come in on loan and try to put themselves in the shop window, or more often that not it's to go back to their club to try and have an impact. Sometimes it's to come to the attention of others.
"For Celtic to get that done permanently I think is fantastic business, at round about £7million as well is an absolute bargain. He looks like he is a better player from last season.
"I think he is settled. He obviously made the decision to sign for Celtic permanently, and Celtic have put the outlay on him for that fee.
"He's so unpredictable. He can go left, he can go right and he creates chances, he scores goals. In the form he is in just now I don't see anybody that is better than him."
