James McClean helped Wigan move within six points of Sky Bet League One leaders Rotherham after a 2-0 win at home to struggling Crewe on Tuesday night.
After a goalless first half at the DW Stadium, it was summer arrival McClean who helped make the opener when his cross was headed in by Callum Lang in the 57th minute.
Republic of Ireland international McClean, 32, then wrapped up the points late on with a deflected second to ensure the Latics stay on the heels of the Millers with two games in hand while third-place MK Dons are now five points adrift.
At the other end of the table, Doncaster moved off the bottom and above Crewe into 23rd place with a 1-0 win at Lincoln, where play was held up due to a medical emergency in the crowd.
Midway through the second half, an individual in the crowd required treatment but after they were able to regain consciousness, the fixture resumed following a 10-minute delay.

Sutton, another side in the promotion hunt, were left stunned by goals from Bristol Rovers at the start of each half.
Harry Anderson fired Rovers into the lead after four minutes and Aaron Collins doubled their advantage within 60 seconds of the second period.

Rovers move up to 11th and are seven points off the play-offs while Sutton stay in fifth but are three points behind Exeter, who occupy the final automatic promotion spot.
