James McClean announces he's staying at Wigan with hilarious Hollywood reference

James McClean parodied The Wolf of Wall Street while announcing he is staying with Wigan Athletic next season.

The 33-year-old joined the Latics for his second stint at the club on a one-year basis last campaign but went on to enjoy an excellent season for club as well as country as he made 33 appearances and scored nine times as they finished atop the League One standings.

And unsurprisingly it appears both McClean and Wigan are happy to forge ahead together in the Championship.

Quoting the most famous line from Martin Scorcese's 2013 biopic of controversial Wall Street stockbroker Jordan Belfort he wrote: "Am not fucking leaving @Laticsofficial".

Despite many assuming he'd be on the way out under Stephen Kenny's youth movement, McClean has also proven himself to be a key cog in Ireland's turnaround in results as he's put in some super displays at left wing-back.

For that reason, he was once again named in the squad for the upcoming Nations League campaign.

The squad in full is:

Goalkeepers : Caoimhin Kelleher (Liverpool); Gavin Bazunu (Manchester City); Mark Travers (AFC Bournemouth)

Defenders : Séamus Coleman (Everton); Cyrus Christie (Fulham); Enda Stevens (Sheffield United); Ryan Manning (Swansea City); James McClean (Wigan Athletic); Shane Duffy (Brighton & Hove Albion); John Egan (Sheffield United); Nathan Collins (Burnley); Darragh Lenihan (Blackburn Rovers); Dara O'Shea (West Bromwich Albion)

Midfielders : Conor Hourihane (Sheffield United); Josh Cullen (Anderlecht); Jeff Hendrick (Newcastle United); Jayson Molumby (West Bromwich Albion); Alan Browne (Preston North End); Jason Knight (Derby County)

Forwards : Callum Robinson (West Bromwich Albion); Troy Parrott (Tottenham Hotspur); Scott Hogan (Birmingham City); Will Keane (Wigan Athletic); Chiedozie Ogbene (Rotherham United); Michael Obafemi (Swansea City); CJ Hamilton (Blackpool); Festy Ebosele (Derby County)

Our campaign gets underway on Wednesday June 4 away to Armenia.
