James McAvoy eats at Glasgow restaurant ahead of Theatre Royal shows

He's one of the biggest Hollywood stars on the planet but that didn't stop James McAvoy from braving the crowds to have lunch in the city on Friday.

The X-Men actor stopped off at Ristorante Pieno on Hope Street for a bite to eat.

The restaurant shared a picture of James posing with a member of staff, writing: "We had the incredible James McAvoy in for lunch today! Good luck for your first show 'Cyrano de Bergerac' at The Theatre Royal."

James is currently starring in Cyrano de Bergerac which is running for nine performances at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow.

The show has returned to the stage after a sold-out run in the West End back in 2019 where James' performance was described as 'stunningly powerful'.

Cyrano de Bergerac will be staged at two other venues worldwide. As well as the Theatre Royal, it will be playing at The Harold Pinter Theatre in London and the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York.

James Haworth, Theatre Director at Theatre Royal, Glasgow said: "Welcoming James McAvoy home to perform at Theatre Royal is an honour. This is undoubtedly among one of the most exciting and prestigious productions to have been staged at Theatre Royal and we predict a sell-out run."
