James Martin has fans in tears with heartbreaking health update on 'TV dad'

TV favourite James Martin had viewers in tears as he touchingly told of his love for fellow chef Brian Turner.

Brian bravely opened up about how he had a stroke in June 2022 during an emotional segment on ITV's James Martin’s Saturday Morning. Fans told how they were reduced to tears after watching the clip in which James referred to Brian as his "TV dad".

The Mirror reports how 76-year-old Brian was a guest on the show to cook a mouth-watering Sage Lamb Cobbler. But before he got to work in the kitchen, he gave an update on his health.

The Ready Steady Cook favourite explained: "I had a stroke in June last year and the people at the London hospital were fantastic and helpful."

He added: "So excuse me if I make a stammer occasionally, but we will catch up at the end." James responded: "It's OK, it's OK. I love you fella."

Viewers of the ITV show were happy to see the pair back together on their screens as they took to Twitter to talk about the emotional reunion.

One wrote: "So so lovely to see Brian back with his TV son. Those man hugs made me tear up! All the best to you Chef Turner." While another said: "Lovely to see Brian, your relationship is so special. Always a smile in adverse circumstances."

"I'm watching with tears in my eyes. Warmed to my heart to see how James is so caring to him," a third commented. A fourth took to Twitter to say: "You could see and feel the love and respect you have for each other."

James took to his own Twitter page after reading comments from the show to tell his fans how much they meant to him. He said that he and Brian had been crying on the phone to each other after seeing the emotional messages.

The 50-year-old said: "Wow, well what can we both say just had Brian on the phone." He added: "Ended in both us in tears at the amazing messages and support from you all…he wanted me to tell you all out there 'thank you' for all of them."

This comes as James recently sparked concern after he told his fans that he was going for an MRI scan. He joked about "getting old" as he shared a snap from the inside of a hospital.

Alongside a photo of his dog, James wrote: "Seems as if we are both getting old fella! Dropped him off for an op this morning, now it seems I need one."

However James didn't share any more details which left fans concerned. His hospital trip cane after he lost three stone after he swapped fizzy drinks for water during the covid pandemic.
