James Martin fans share their concerns as star announces he is in hospital

TV chef James Martin has sparked concern among fans after he announced he was in hospital for an MRI scan. The former Saturday Kitchen star revealed the news to followers on Instagram on Monday, November 21.

Alongside a picture of adorable dog Ralph, the Saturday Morning food favourite wrote: "Seems as if we are both getting old fella! Dropped him off for an op this morning, now it seems I need one." The second image on the post showed the door of the MRI suite.

As fans rushed to send him messages of support and show their concern, James followed up with a reply. He penned: "Thank you for all your messages, very kind. Ralph is ok and out and on the mend cheers. Me on the other hand well we will see."

Fans taking to social media replied: "Thinking of you both and wish you all the best with your results Have everything crossed for you". Another said: "It’s a nerve racking time, understandably. Keep positive." The concern continued: "OMG J !!! What the hell do you need an Op for? I can’t stand it. I hope it’s for something like an ingrown toenail or something minor. And, poor Ralphy, I hope he’s ok and his op is something minor too".

The post comes just days after the personality appeared on ITV Loose Women, according to Birmingham Live, where he explained his weight loss, and how he credited it with eradicating one thing from his diet: fizzy drinks.

Host Ruth Langsford asked Martin: "You are looking good, I was reading that you have given up fizzy drinks is it?" James then explained all.

"Yeah. Well, fizzy drinks, I don't drink tea or coffee so fizzy drinks were always sort of my nemesis really and in the kitchen particularly," he revealed. "The minute I swapped to water, it was nearly three stone," he told the panel.

Ruth asked: "Just like that? With not changing your diet, just the drinks?" He replied: "Yeah, so the chefs have bottles of water in my section and are like 'make sure he is happy, give him water'."

James also explained his dyslexia battle. "I failed all my exams at school, I've never read a book in my life," he added: "I've written 34 books but the way I do it is I dictate it."

James has admitted struggles with the autocue in the past, telling guests on his TV show: "A lot of this crew think I'm ignoring them, it’s mainly because I have trouble reading a script." James said: "I mainly failed because I'm severely dyslexic."

"My dyslexia has inadvertently gifted me with an interview style people seem to find relaxing," he said.
