Newcastle are leading the race to sign James Maddison ahead of Tottenham, despite new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou driving interest in the Leicester midfielder.
Maddison will be sold by Leicester this summer following their relegation and Spurs have registered an interest in the 26-year-old as they target a creative playmaker this summer.
Postecoglou is thought to have given Spurs the green light to move for Maddison but Newcastle are frontrunners to sign the 26-year-old.

Newcastle can offer him Champions League football next season and believe he would be receptive to the idea of making the move to the North East.
Spurs would face a challenge in convincing Maddison to join them over a move to Newcastle, who are confident their interest in him is also more advanced after they identified him as a target months ago.
Leicester are demanding a transfer fee of around £45million for Maddison, who has just one year left on his contract.
Maddison is currently on England duty after being called up by Gareth Southgate for upcoming games against Malta and North Macedonia.
Chelsea are also admirers of Maddison but are currently prioritising the signature of a striker, a defensive midfielder and a goalkeeper instead so are unlikely to enter the race
