Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has paid tribute to the influence Irish star Wes Hoolahan has had on his career.
The pair played together for a couple of seasons during the Irishman's decade long stint with the Canaries.
Both men made a name for themselves as highly rated attacking midfielders.
Maddison was just a youngster when he crossed paths with the former Shelbourne star, and the influence Hoolahan had on his career is plain to see.
Replying to a video of Hoolahan posted by the EFL Twitter account, Maddison wrote "What a player #Wessi."
Shortly after, Maddison replied to a comment and confirmed that Hoolahan helped shape his career.
Renowned as one of the most gifted Irish players of his generation, Hoolahan made 43 appearances for the National side, famously scoring in Ireland's EURO 2016 opener against Sweden.
Aged 40 years of age, Hoolahan is still going strong and most recently lined out for Cambridge in May of 2022. He left the club after two successful seasons during which Cambridge were promoted to League One.
