Brendan Rodgers has no concerns about James Maddison’s commitment to Leicester City amid interest from Newcastle United.
The Magpies have had two bids rejected for Maddison, although Eddie Howe has refused to comment on the speculation. The Foxes are reportedly holding out for a £60 million fee for the attacking midfielder, who has two years left on his contract.
Rodgers included Maddison in his starting line-up to face Brentford at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of Leicester’s contest against the Bees, Rodgers was asked whether Maddison was fully focused on the job at hand, saying: “Yes 100%. I think it’s always a challenging time until the window shuts.
He continued: "There’s lots of speculation and gossip around players leaving but I always assess the players every day. If the mentality doesn’t change and they have that commitment then that’s all you want. So both players [Maddison and Wesley Fofana] are very important for us and I look forward to seeing them play.”
