Before James Harden’s incredible Game 1 performance against the Celtics on Monday night, the star 76ers guard showed up to TD Garden in a—interesting outfit. Harden wore what appeared to be a blue jump suit with fur on it the same night as the Met Gala.
The best NBA players can never make an appearance at the gala, usually, because it takes place during the playoffs. But after Harden dropped 45 points in Boston to lift Philadelphia to victory without MVP candidate Joel Embiid, Harden took to Twitter to bask in the moment Tuesday.
“I be wanting to go to the met gala, but I’m always in the play offs this time of year,” he wrote in a tweet.

The Philadelphia guard posted a picture of his outfit, his shoes, himself shooting a layup, and for good measure, a tweet from a fan commenting on his performance. Harden stepped up in a big way for the 76ers, who were in desperate need of more scoring with Embiid, the NBA’s leading scorer, out with a knee injury.
Harden went 17-for-30 from the field to lead his team to the 119–115 win, making it safe to assume that Philadelphia fans were happy Harden was on the floor at TD Garden and not in New York at the fashion event of the year.
