A social media update from former Nottingham Forest loanee James Garner has prompted a response from both Reds’ players and fans as they await the return of football.
The midfielder was a key member of the Forest squad who won promotion to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs last season. The Reds were keen to make his loan move from Manchester United permanent in the summer, but a delay in a decision from United meant they moved on to other targets.
Garner eventually completed a summer move to Everton on deadline day. He signed a four-year deal at Goodison Park, with the Toffees paying a fee of around £15 million.

The 21-year-old has found starts hard to come by so far this season, mainly being used as a second-half substitute by Frank Lampard. He then suffered a back injury which caused him to miss the final game before the World Cup break.
It has since been revealed that the problem could keep Garner out of action until February . The player will be working hard on his recovery, but the latest update on his Instagram shows him enjoying a holiday while the World Cup break is still ongoing.
The post prompted a response from former Forest teammate Brennan Johnson who simply wrote: “JG” along with a love heart eyes emoji. Fellow Forest man Alex Mighten was also among those to reply, writing “Vest” with a wink symbol, referring to how Garner is dressed in the first photo posted.
But it wasn’t just teammates reacting to the update. Some Forest fans also responded with a clear message to the midfielder.
