James Forrest has joined a highly-exclusive club at Celtic after his neat asssist in Saturday's win over Aberdeen.
The veteran winger was brought on to change the game at Pittodrie as the Hoops begged for an opening against Jim Goodwin's side before returning captain Callum McGregor fired home to seal all three points. And it was fellow Scot Forrest who produced a nifty lay-off to allow the skipper to score, sealing 100 club asssists in the process.
Forrest's somewhat unexpected hat-trick in a 6-1 victory over Hibernian earlier this season meant he joined the 100 goals club at Parkhead, breaking another record by scoring in his fourteenth consecutive season in Scotland. And the 31-year-old, who is well on his way to earning the title of a Celtic great joined just two Hoops icons after the assist on Saturday.
Only legends Jimmy Johnstone and Henrik Larsson have 100 goals AND assists for the green and white, with Forrest now taking his place among the greats. The man who benefited from Forrest's neat ball-roll in the North East said that feat cannot be understated.
McGregor told Celtic TV: "Another one on Jamesey, that's him with 100 assists and 100 goals. It puts him in there with the very best players at Celtic. We're delighted for him."
