James Forrest and Paulo Bernardo Celtic injury latest

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has provided an update on the status of injured duo James Forrest and Paulo Bernardo.

The Parkhead side welcome Aberdeen to Glasgow's east end in the Scottish Premiership this evening, although neither of the pair will be in contention to play.

Speaking ahead of the match, Rodgers revealed that Bernardo remains a few weeks away from fitness after being granted some time off, with Forrest only recently back on the grass.

"We gave him [Bernardo] a little bit of time off.

"He's still a bit of time away."

Celtic can move 16 points clear of city rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a win this evening.

The Ibrox side travel to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park tomorrow, although Rodgers' full focus will be on taking care of his own team's business.

Meetings with Aberdeen this season have been, apart from a 2-2 draw at Parkhead in October, a simple task for the Celtic manager, with his side winning 6-0 and 1-0 in each of the club's last two clashes.
