James Corden tearful as he hosts emotional final Late Late Show with celebrity pals

James Corden became rather emotional during his emotional final Late Late Show, with the British star surrounded by famous faces and celebrity pals.

Promising to "go out with a bang", James delivered and then some for his loyal legion of fans and viewers, who he has been entertaining for eight years.

With appearances from Harry Styles, Tom Cruise, Will Ferrell on his final ever show, fans watched on as James did the last-ever Carpool Karaoke with his best pal Adele.

Tottenham-born beauty Adele, 34, was of the first stars to make an appearance, with her returning to the show for the final-ever Carpool Karaoke installment.

The clip, which was part of an hour-long prime time special prior to the main show, saw Adele arrive outside of James' home, with her waking him up and offering to drive him to work.

During the car ride, the two British-born pals sang several of the hitmaker's songs before crooning a musical number that reminisced about the past eight years of James working on the show.

Getting emotional when crooning to Adele's hit I Drink Wine, the singer then explained to James how the lyrics to the song had been inspired by a conversation they once had.

After the Carpool Karaoke clip aired and left both James, 44, and viewers feeling emotional, it was time for Tom Cruise to make an appearance, with the actor giving James a challenge.

Tom challenged James to take part in a live performance of the Lion King, with the duo dressed as Timon and Pumba.

Singing an emotional rendition of Can You Feel The Love Tonight, the pair crooned the touching tune to commemorate the final show with James at the helm.

Following on from Tom and James' Lion King performance was a sketch that saw a group of much-loved US talk show hosts "break into" James' home.

Seth Myers, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and David Letterman could be seen "breaking into" his house in order to persuade him not to leave.

The US talk show legends also discussed James' retirement plans and argued over who would take over Carpool Karaoke now that James has departed.

When the prime time special ended, James began his final episode of The Late Late Show with him appeared to be locked out of the CBS building.

His final celebrity guests Will Ferrell and Harry Styles, who were incredibly unhelpful when it came to assisting James with trying to regain access to the building.

"Terrible timing with this door thing eh? Because it’s your last show," Harry said to James just before the talk show host was let into the studio.

Once in the studio James played the final Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts game with his high profile celebrity guests.

The game saw the celebrities answer questions, with them eating disgusting food if they opted out of the question.

One of the questions centred around whether or not there would be a One Direction reunion - which no doubt thrilled 1D fans.

US President Joe Biden, then issued an announcement in the form of a video message, with him cracking a few jokes before saying: "I’m going to miss you buddy."

Biden then thanked James for never inviting him onto Carpool Karaoke, before the final segment of the show played out.

For the final segment, James could be seen sitting at a piano where he partook in an audience sing-along of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

Singing a moving ballad for his final number as the show came to a close, James crooned: "Now the last guest is gone from the green room and our last conversation is done.

"I’ve been squeezing myself into Spanx every night… So good night, thanks for watching, that’s our show...." he continued while choked up and incredibly emotional.

Getting a standing ovation from the audience, he then delivered his parting line: “I’m gonna miss you all so much.”
