James Corden's weight loss 'secret' helped shed six stone thanks to one change

James Corden, who is now known worldwide as the host of the popular US talk show, has noticeably slimmed down since his early acting days.

The London native has carved quite a reputation across the pond on Late Night with James Corden, most famous for crooning with celebrity royalty while driving around LA in the show's iconic Carpool Karaoke segment.

But back in April, Corden announced plans to return to the UK after seven years stateside. Since appearing as cheeky mate Smithy in the hit comedy Gavin and Stacy back in 2007, the funny man looks significantly slimmer and attributes his six stone weight loss to a few simple lifestyle changes.

Weighing 21 stone at his heaviest, the 44-year-old dropped the weight mainly through intermittent fasting and exercise. Rather than what you eat, this type of eating plan focuses on when, as you only consume meals within a certain time frame.

Experts claim that fasting for a certain number of hours each day or eating just one meal a couple days a week, can help your body burn fat. Speaking to The Sun, Corden admitted: "I don't eat until 12."

However, Corden said that he doesn't believe in diets and refuses to starve himself of the good stuff.

He said: "I have a trainer who I box with most mornings, and so far today I've had an apple. I try to eat healthily and not deprive myself.

"The notion of going on a diet is everything that is wrong because at some point you are going to revert. It's like Dry January — it's brilliant if you give up booze for January but in the back of your mind you're like, 'Well, in February I'm going to have a drink'."

The comedian has since become an ambassador for WW - formally named Weight Watchers - as he "really enjoys" the flexibility.

"You don't have to cut anything out. It's just being aware of what you are putting in your body, trying not to eat things that have too many ingredients."

It's not only physical health that James is keeping in check, as he revealed that he completed a four day course on transcendental meditation and would "highly recommend it".

"You do a course, then at the end of it you have these tools where, every day, you give yourself 20 minutes of silence to let your thoughts be whatever they are, and I've found that very, very beneficial."

Instead of reaching for the phone or turning on the TV, James uses his spare time to meditate to relieve any stress.

"Normally if I have a spare 20 minutes, I'll be on my phone, I’ll be watching something, and that's it — now I do this. It's great."
