James Corden described Adele as "unprankable” as they reunited for his final Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show .
The presenter, 44, spoke about his experiences with the singer, 34, over the years as he prepares for his departure from the CBS talk show later this week.
During last night's episode, pals James and Adele remembered when she last sat in the passenger seat for Carpool Karaoke back in 2016.
He joked that she "almost" appeared on his show another time as James had once tried to prank Adele - but it didn't go to plan.
Adele described the experience as "hilarious" and James commented that it's "quite funny," though the host said that the prank sounds "so ridiculous" in hindsight.
He said: "You, as long as we've been friends, have always said 'no one could ever prank me. [...] I can't be pranked'. And then I remember you saying to me 'I'd love someone to try'."
James said the prank involved pretending that a bear was on the loose in Los Angeles. "The idea was you were being interviewed and then park rangers would fly in," he said.
An animatronic bear had been brought in for the prank and a fake news segment featuring Gayle King, now 68, had been created about the wild animal being on the loose.
James said: "The worst thing was you got there early". He said Adele's team weren't aware of the prank as production didn't want them to "feel compromised and hide anything".
He however added that his guest's assistant had spotted a camera that was hidden on a shelf. After being told about it by her assistant, Adele thought she "was being spied on".
Adele said she was unimpressed and was subsequently moved into another room. She said: "I go in and there's like every piece of merch that has ever been created of me."
Footage was shown of Adele entering the room which included numerous photos of her. She said at the time: "I'm not happy being here. I'm really uncomfortable".
Adele said on Carpool Karaoke that she announced her departure from the location shorlty afterwards, prompting James to reveal that he had been trying to prank her.
Reflecting on the experience now, host James commented: "She's unprankable. She cannot be pranked". Adele laughed over the remark and said herself: "Unprankable babes".
