James Corden reveals red raw hands after stressful joke-stealing and omelette scandals

James Corden put on a brave face on a night out with his wife Julia Carey after being called out for stealing other people’s jokes.

But although he looked happy, his hands told another story as they appeared to be bitten red raw after a stressful few weeks.

The Late Late Late Show host walked the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of his new Amazon Prime video series , Mammals, last night.

Ironically, his new show follows the story of a complex Michelin-starred chef whose world implodes when he discovers shocking secrets about his pregnant wife.

The timing is unfortunate as its release comes days after Corden was banned from a top New York restaurant for allegedly being rude to staff.

The ban was later reversed after Corden apologised on TV for his “ungracious behaviour”.

But although the restaurant drama appears to be behind him, more scandal has ensued for the Gavin and Stacey star this week.

The 44-year-old actor and comic was accused of stealing jokes from both Ricky Gervais and Noel Fielding.

Although he put on a smile at the event, the strain of the past couple of weeks was clear.

And his hands were pictured looking red and sore, as if he had been anxiously biting his nails.

The Fielding claims come just one day after Corden apologised for almost copying one of Ricky's jokes 'word for word' in a recent episode of his US TV show.

His gag was in response to Elon Musk’s recent takeover of social media platform Twitter.

Reacting to Twitter being compared to a town square, Corden said: “It isn't. Because if someone puts up a poster in a town square that says 'guitar lessons available', like you don't get people in the town go 'I don't wanna play the guitar! I wanna play the piano you piece of s***!'"

He concluded: "[But] that sign wasn't for you, it was for somebody else. You don't have to get mad about all of it."

The comment attracted attention on social media, with people stating that it was very similar to a joke Ricky made in his Netflix stand-up special Humanity in 2018.

Addressing the backlash on Tuesday, Corden tweeted: "Inadvertently told a brilliant Ricky Gervais joke on the show last night, obviously not knowing it came from him."

He continued: "It's brilliant, because it’s a Ricky Gervais joke. You can watch all [his] excellent specials on Netflix. J x"

The Office star Ricky, 61, later admitted he "felt sorry" for Corden and believes one of his writers gave him the material to read.

Now, drama from five years ago has resurfaced – highlighting the moment Great British Bake Off host Noel slammed James for the same reason.

Back in 2017, Noel accused James of stealing a piece of stand-up he performed at the 2010 'Just For Laughs' comedy festival.

In the joke, he suggests the 'best way to stop a mugger' is to whisper "oi, mate", which will lead to the knife-wielding criminal to drop their weapon to say "what is it?"

He has also apologised after copying one of Ricky Gervais' jokes (Twitter)

While interviewing actor Matthew Broderick, Corden appeared to repeat the gag, telling the star he finds the "best way to avoid being mugged is to whisper, 'you're never going to believe what's happened'".

He explained the mugger would "put down their weapon and go, 'what?'"

At the time, one eagle-eyed fan Tweeted: "James totally stole the whisper thing from Noel Fielding."

Adding fuel to the fire, Noel retweeted, saying: "Yes I believe this is my material."

Corden has yet to comment on the latest claims.
