James Corden makes savage dig at Will Smith as he parodies his Chris Rock Oscars slap

James Corden has added his name to the long list of celebrities offering their thoughts on the shocking moment Will Smith slapped Chris Rock across the face during the 94th Academy Awards.

The Gavin and Stacey star, 43, has claimed that the Best Actor winner "can't take a joke", and seemingly taken the side of fellow comedian Chris in the fall-out.

Hollywood was stunned when Will stormed the stage to strike Chris on Sunday night, after the stand-up comic had made a poor-taste joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

The actor - who went on to collect his first Oscar later that night - has since apologised for his actions, and it has been confirmed that no report has been filed to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Using his late-night American talk show to air his views, James decided to reference the much-talked about incident via his own version of the hit track We Don’t Talk About Bruno from the Disney film Encanto.

During Monday's installment of his show, James sat down with his producers to chat about which Oscars highlight they wanted to discuss.

"We don’t talk about Jada, no, no, no," the presenter stressed, after one of his colleagues attempted to bring up the infamous slapping incident.

"You saw what happened, we have to talk about something else," he sarcastically added.

After a producer tried to discuss the shocking moment once again, James broke out in song - comically singing: "Will Smith rose up from the floor/ Second time that night/ No one in the room was bored /I know what comes next but anyway/ We don’t talk about Jada."

After the lighthearted sketch, James took a more sincere approach and praised Chris for his reaction to being assaulted live on stage.

The Carpool Karaoke host told viewers: "Seriously though, I applaud Chris Rock for recovering, keeping the show moving. It was an incredibly dignified response. "I'll say this, Will Smith can't take a joke, Chris Rock can take a punch. A steel jaw. Unbelievable."

Will issued a full apology to Chris on Tuesday - calling his actions on Sunday night "unacceptable and inexcusable".

"Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable," the dad-of-three began in his lengthy statement shared online.

"Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally," he explained.

Will had taken issue with Chris making a G.I Jane joke about his wife's hairstyle as he presented an award on Sunday night.

Jada has spoken publicly in the past about her battle with alopecia, but it has been claimed Chris hadn't been aware of her condition prior to making the now infamous gag.

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness," Will continued in his apology to the comedian.

Chris is yet to speak or comment publicly about the incident.
