James Corden could rake in £60m from selling rights to Carpool Karaoke

James Corden could rake in £60million by giving his smash-hit Carpool Karaoke an encore.

The star, 43, makes the celeb singalong segment with his company Fulwell 73 and CBS Studios for America’s Late Late show, which he quit this week.

His duets with the likes of Adele, Elton John, and Britney Spears have also gone down a storm online, clocking up hundreds of millions of YouTube views.

And following his decision to leave the chatshow an LA TV consultant said rival channels and streamers would be “biting off his hand” to buy the rights.

He said: “The intellectual property of Carpool Karaoke is of huge value. He could expand the show, revisit stars and make real entertainment specials – that is gold dust for many broadcasters.

“Obviously CBS will want to try and retain it, but it will be a bidding war. If he did three specials a year Fulwell would probably take in £15million from global sales. Three like the Paul McCartney one could earn more. But if he did a 15 or 20-part series to be syndicated across the world Fulwell could sell that for £50m or £60m.”

Apple TV has already licensed the concept for a spin-off show of its own.

Bosses on The Late Late Show, which James joined in 2015, offered to make him the top-paid Brit on US TV after he said this week he was walking away.

James rejected a long-term deal but agreed to one more year on the CBS hit.

The LA-based star revealed he wants to spend more time in Britain watching West Ham and being with his family.

Friends say James, wife Jules and their kids Max, Charlotte and Carey will seek a second home within reach of the Hammers’ London Stadium.
