James Corden and Prince Harry 'good pals' as he refuses to weigh in on royal rows saying its 'not fair'

James Corden may be closer to Prince Harry than many people would expect, as he got a text message from the Duke of Sussex during a recent interview and refused to weigh in on the ongoing Royal dramas as he didn't think it fair.

It comes as the actor and comedian, 44, is set to return to UK soil after turning down an eight-figure bonus from bosses in LA to continue presenting the Late Late Show stateside, according to reports.

The Gavin and Stacey star and his wife Julia Carey, 46, are said to be leaving their life in California behind after living there for eight years to spend more time with their family back in the UK.

During an interview with The Sun the 44-year-old said he would not be drawn on the current debate surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as "It's not fair" to comment.

James received a text during the interview, when he told the interviewer, "Oh God, wouldn’t you just love to see these."

It comes after the father-of-three admitted he was apprehensive ahead of leaving his hit US chat show the Late Late Show after eight years in the hot seat.

He said he has “never felt this scared” in his professional life but insisted he stands by his return to England to raise his family.

Corden added: “I am certain this is the most overwhelming year of my life professionally.

“My agent puts up with nothing but sh** from me on the phone. I have never felt this scared since I decided to take the show to move here.

“So I have to embrace that feeling because I think to be excited and scared is probably the right place to make something quite interesting.”

During an exclusive interview on Lorraine on Thursday, he added: "It will always be mind-blowing to me that this was something I was able to do, nothing about me looks like I should be hosting a TV show in America.

"The fact I got to do that will always blow my mind. It's a lot to walk away from but it's not a professional decision, we just want our kids to experience what it feels like to grow up in Britain and there's people there who are getting older."

"We want them to have a relationship with their grandkids and our kids to have a relationship with their grandparents," he added.

The segment also saw him speak to Meghan on the phone (The Late Late Show with James Corden /Youtube)

He also hinted there is some "big stuff" ahead coming tonight for his final show, including an appearance from Tom Cruise who was apparently "adamant" he wanted to take part in the grand finale.

Harry Styles and Will Ferrell are also set to make an appearance on the chat show as it goes out with a bang, as James says he's going to do everything he can to pull himself together and not be a "blubbering mess."

You can watch James Corden's final chat show the Late Late Show airs tonight in the US, those of us in the UK can catch up tomorrow on Friday at SkyShowcase from 10.15am.
