James Corden has claimed he only washes his hair twice a month and sparked another debate about celebrity bathing habits in the process.

The British star, 43, was discussing a news story on his US late night chat show in which people in Los Angeles have been advised to cut down their shower time by four minutes to help preserve local water supply.

The Late Late Show host said: “Shouldn’t be a problem. I know every time I’m in the shower, I time it to the minute. Cut it by four [minutes]?! How long are people spending in the shower?!

”If that’s the average, that means there’s people that are in there for 20 minutes! Oh my God, I’m in and out in a solid three or four.”

Questioning his production team over how long they spend in the shower, one said it depends if she is washing her hair.

This prompted Corden to reply: “I use soap, but I don’t wash my hair. I wash it every two months. That is a true story.”

Corden wasn’t having any of it when jokingly told he was “dirty” and “nasty”.

He hit back with: “I don’t think we’re nasty… We’re trying to protect the planet. You know, there is no planet B!”

Taylor Swift originally caused a divide during an appearance on The Ellen Show back in 2019 when she confessed to not washing her legs in the shower.

“Because when you shave your legs, the shaving cream is like soap, right?” She told host Ellen DeGeneres.

Celebrity bathing habits hit the headlines again last year when Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher said they only wash their kids when they can “see the dirt”.

The actor also claimed he just washes his armpits and private parts daily “and nothing else ever”.

Frozen star Kristen Bell could see nothing wrong with that, saying she too holds off on reaching for the soap unnecessarily and is “a big fan of waiting for the stink” where her children are concerned.

Meanwhile, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson insisted he was the “opposite of a ‘not washing themselves’ celeb”.

Detailing his cleanliness regime to a fan on Twitter, he said: “Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’. Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work. Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off key) in the shower.”
