The Vamps star James Brittain-McVey has ruled out returning to the jungle after telling MPs how his appearance on I’m A Celeb made his eating disorder worse.
The guitarist lost 13lbs during his 2018 stint alongside Harry Redknapp and Emily Atack, and told MPs in March how the stint unleashed inner “demons” that meant he felt he finally “looked good again”, despite wife Kristie feeling “scared” for his health.
James, 28, says he isn’t tempted by returning when the show prerecords an All Stars version this year.
“I keep on saying I’d love to do it again because I know now what I’d do differently, but the reality is I hated most moments of it,” he admits.
“I’d sign up for it thinking it was going to be great and then within three hours I’d be like: ‘What am I doing?’ So no. No, I don’t think so.
“It made me realise how much I love the dynamic with The Vamps boys and my wife - you do realise what’s important when you’re in the middle of nowhere with no food, and I don’t want to sacrifice that again anytime soon.”
The band clearly enjoy a great dynamic, as they are celebrating 10 years together - an eternity in boyband years - in which time they have landed two No. 1 albums, and headlined London’s O2 five years in a row.
The Vamps will tour the UK and Ireland with their Greatest Hits Tour in November and December.
