A James Bond stunt car driven by Daniel Craig in the opening chase sequence of No Time to Die has sold for more than £2.9million. As reported by CoventryLive, the replica Silver Birch Aston Martin DB5 was among the items up for sale at Christie's to celebrate 60 years of Bond films.
The car was one of three special Aston Martin models included in the multi-million-pound auction. It features in the opening chase sequence of the 25th Bond film, when James and Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) head through Matera on the Italian coast and find themselves pursued by SPECTRE agents.
The car features several gadgets installed by Q which (spoiler alert) helps them escape. These include; a cluster of bombs deployed from an underside compartment, two mini-guns emerging from the front headlamps and a smoke screen released from the exhaust pipe.
The DB5 donated by Aston Martin Lagonda accelerated beyond the auctioneer’s estimate of between £1.5million and £2million before being sold to a telephone bidder for £2,922,000. The proceeds from the auction - over £6million - will help the Prince’s Trust in its work with young people, The Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund and three charities supporting serving and former members of the UK Special Forces.
