James Bisgrove taps into Rangers contacts for Scottish coach

Former Rangers chief James Bisgrove is set to tap into his knowledge of Scottish football when appointing a new coach for his team in Saudi.

Tam Courts is reportedly closing in on a mega-money switch to the Middle East, as the ex-Dundee United manager gets set to link up with Bisgrove.

Al Qadsiah are said to be edging closer to getting Courts on board, claims The Courier.

He will work alongside current first-team boss Michel to form part of his coaching staff.

The Saudi side are new to the Pro League following their promotion from the second tier last season.

They are believed to be regarded as nearby rivals to Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq.

Courts has been out of work since he was sacked by Hungarian side Honved in 2022. His previous work in the Scottish Premiership earned him that move.

He's now set to get back into football coaching with Al Qadsiah, as he joins their revolution in Saudi Arabia.

They are the latest oil-rich club to make big-name signings, with Real Madrid captain Nacho and current Belgium No.1 Koen Casteels recently joining.

Ben Jacobs, a Saudi football expert, said: "The club to look out for is Al-Qadsiah, who are right next to Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq.

"They are owned by Saudi Aramco, they basically play on an athletics track in front of a few hundred people. You are going to see a transformation. These are the teams outside the big four because the World Cup (in 2032) are going to move very fast.

"The ambition is going to be sky high. Al Qadsiah – in the next five to seven years – are going to build the stadium which will host World Cup matches in that part of the world. Slowly but surely, not in one season but three to five, they will become a big player."
