James Bisgrove breaks Rangers silence on boardroom shake up as CEO holds 'exciting' talks over 4 key positions

Rangers chief executive officer James Bisgrove has addressed the club's boardroom shake-up as the club look to fill four key roles.

A host of changes have been made on the Ibrox club's football board since chairman Douglas Park stood down to be replaced by former vice-chairman John Bennett. Since then managing director Stewart Robertson has announced he is leaving in the summer, while sporting director Ross Wilson quit for a similar role at Nottingham Forest. Long serving finance and football administration director Andrew Dickson left his position while Craig Mulholland is to leave Rangers as academy director at the end of the season after 20 years in the role.

Among the changes Bisgrove, who arrived at Ibrox in 2019 as Director of Commercial and Marketing, has stepped into the void left by Robertson and will officially takes on the new role on July 31 as he balances his current position with the tasks of the outgoing managing director.

He also pledged to back boss Michael Beale in the transfer window along with chief scout John Park as they reshape the squad this summer. Bisgrove admitted that some players could also be heading out of the door in line with the club's player trading model.

Asked about his immediate priorities in the role, Bisgrove said: "We are already focussing on some of the areas we know we need to get right over the summer. The decisions we take in the next three or four months, we believe can define Rangers on and off the pitch for the next few seasons to come.

'We are really focussed on recruitment off the pitch and recruitment off the pitch. There have been some leadership positions that have been vacated and i would like to say thank you to those individuals that have been committed to Rangers for a long period of time and have taken new challenges. But we are looking to appoint a new sporting director, a new academy director, a new financial officer and of course a commercial and marketing director.

"What has been really exciting is some of those conversations have showed us how attractive Rangers are in the market. We are having conversations and will have some announcements we are able to make in the coming weeks.

"So supporting Michael, supporting John Park out chief scout with the rest of the board to deliver their player recruitment plan. It will also work both ways because the player trading out is something that will always be in our minds, so to make sure Michael and John have got that support at board level is certainly a focus."
