James Arthur performs on Britain's Got Talent days after 'unrecognisable' ITV appearance

James Arthur has left fans stunned with his 'unrecognisable' appearance after taking to the stage on Britain's Got Talent.

The singer left fans gobsmacked after appearing on ITV's Lorraine on Monday sporting a very different look compared to his X Factor days in 2012. James, 35, took to the stage for a live performance on BGT on Wednesday night as he impressed judges Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli.

Despite James' stunning performance on the ITV talent show, viewers at home couldn't get over his new look. The Rangers daft singer was sporting a noticeably smoother face and much longer hair.

After his performance, James sweetly thanked Simon for helping start his career over a decade ago. Speaking on

BGT, he said: "Can I just say a thank you to Simon for all he's given me with these opportunities.

"I auditioned for one of Simon's shows 10 years ago and I'm still here. That's because he gives people who don't have the best start in life a chance."

He added: "They don't get platforms like this without shows like this. So I appreciate it."

Taking to Twitter as James performed, fans couldn't help but notice the star was looking extremely different to his X Factor days. One penned: "James Arthur looks different here... #BGT."

"#bgt #jamesarthur James new look reminds me of a greek statue i seen once," another penned. A third added: "This guy on the stage looks like he ate James Arthur #BGT."

A fourth wrote: "What happened to James Arthur's face? #bgt," while someone else said: "Has James Arthur had a face lift #BGT."

This comes after James made headlines earlier this year as fans were convinced that he was competing as Rhino on The Masked Singer. Weighing in on the debate, he wrote on Twitter: "For all those theorising, I am not the Rhino on #MaskedSingerUK it’s probably Lewis Capaldi."

Rhino went on to win the ITV show, and it was revealed to be Busted frontman Charlie Simpson behind the mask during the grand final in February. Reacting to Charlie's unmasking, James jokingly tweeted: "Charlie Simpson, I'd know that voice anywhere. One of the best out there… now everyone p**s off and leave me alone."

Britain's Got Talent continues on Thursday at 8pm on STV.
