Local indie favourite Lanterns on The Lake and The Prodigy's Leeroy Thornhill have joined the line-up of new festival Leazes Live this summer.
The new additions to the bill headlined by Manchester indie-rockers James and with Sunderland favourites The Futureheads are another boost to the debut festival which announced in February it would be squeezing its way into the busy summer schedules with a line-up that refuses to be ignored.
The newcomer, part of a flurry of live music events set to make a big-scale comeback region-wide following two years of pandemic restrictions, will take over Leazes Park in Newcastle on May 1, the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend. Bill-toppers James, who released their latest studio album All The Colours Of You last year, are set to be a big draw, as are the Mercury-nominated Lanterns on the Lake and rave DJ Thornhill.

Also out to please the crowds during the day-long programme, which will include an acid house DJ stage, will be local indie band The Pale White, newcomers The K's, Bez from Happy Mondays, electronic music duo Altern8 and DJ Slipmatt. More acts are set to be announced in the run up to the event.
Concert promoter 456 Live said: "We’re super excited to present the inaugural Leazes Live and bring an amazing day of live music to Newcastle to kick off summer 2022. With a full headline set from James, some of Newcastle’s best talent and a packed Acid House stage, it’s going to be a real feelgood celebration."
Another new music festival will be making its the North East debut in May.

A Stone's Throw is to bring a day of music to Tynemouth and around the Fish Quay in North Shields on May 2. There will be 12 venues taking part, helping to host a line-up of around 50 acts. Read more about it here.
Tickets to see James at Leazes Live cost £49, plus booking fee, and are on sale here.
