Jameis Winston Had a Touching Message for FSU QB Jordan Travis After Devastating Injury

Florida State suffered a crushing blow against North Alabama Saturday evening, losing quarterback Jordan Travis to what appeared to be a serious lower-body injury. The Seminoles star was taken off the field in an ambulance, yielding his position to backup Tate Rodemaker.

The injury was a serious setback for one of college football’s most improved players, and serves as an obvious obstacle to Florida State’s playoff hopes. However, it also dampened a further happy occasion for the Seminoles: the 10-year reunion of the program’s 2013 national championship team.

Interviewed on The CW, former Florida State and current Saints quarterback Jameis Winston offered encouraging words to Travis after having his number retired by the program.

"I just wanna encourage him to stay resilient and continue to persevere. I think he's the epitome of that in his college football career," Winston said.

Winston praised Travis's performance this season, during which he has thrown 20 touchdowns against just two interceptions.

"I just wanna continue to lift him up," an emotional Winston said. "Stand firm. Be strong and courageous. The Lord has a plan for you that no man can even imagine."

Travis and Winston rank second and fourth on the Seminoles' all-time passing leaderboard, respectively.
