Jamal Musiala sent Liverpool transfer message as VAR decision leaves Darwin Nunez World Cup hopes in doubt

Here is your Liverpool morning digest for Tuesday, November 28.

Jamal Musial sent transfer message

David James has admitted he would 'love' to see Jamal Musiala at Liverpool after the young midfielder impressed again for Germany on Sunday evening.

The 19-year-old, who has been a shining light in an otherwise underwhelming fortnight for the Germans, set up Nicklas Fullkrug to equalise against Spain and kept alive his side's hopes of progression into the knockout stages.

The teenager's inclusion not just in the Germany squad but in Flick's starting line-up is just rewards for an outstanding few months at Bayern Munich, with the attacking midfielder registering nine goals and seven assists in 14 Bundesliga appearances. Such form has attracted interest from a number of Europe's top clubs, with Liverpool one of several potential suitors.

"I’d love to see Jamal Musiala in a Liverpool shirt," James told Genting Casino. "When you look at the likes of Jude Bellingham, who’s been linked, why not? He’s young.

"Someone like Jamal Musiala, he’s been linked. There’s talent out there and at some point Liverpool will try and get their services. Bellingham has the potential of being the tournament’s outstanding player, and his price tag could soar. But whether they get them soon is questionable."

Nunez World Cup hopes in doubt

Ally McCoist was left fuming after Portugal were awarded a penalty that all but secured victory over Uruguay and left Darwin Nunez's World Cup hopes hanging by a thread.

The Liverpool striker's side lost 2-0 in their second game at the Lusail Stadium thanks to a brace from Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes - the second of which came from a controversial penalty in added-time. Fernandes slid the ball through the sliding legs of Jose Gimenez, whose arm came down to land and made contract with the ball.

The Red Devils talisman slotted home to secure a Portugal win and leave Nunez's hopes of qualifying for the round-of-16 hanging in the balance. And speaking during commentary of the match, McCoist fumed at the decision, following former referee Peter Walton's attempted justification.

McCoist said: "He’s absolutely no idea that it’s going to hit his hand. He’s not trying to get an advantage, he’s not trying to gain an advantage, it is a completely and utterly accidental handball."
