Jamal Edwards' death 'hasn't hit Brenda yet', says Loose Women's Linda Robson

Linda Robson has said that she doesn't think Jamal Edwards' tragic death has hit his mum Brenda yet.

The Loose Women panelist, 63, visited co-star Brenda's home yesterday to gift her with some flowers after yesterday's incredibly heartbreaking show highlighting the achievements Jamal had made over the years and the lives he had touched.

The music pioneer, who was credited with launching the careers of a number of music artists and inspiring a generation, died aged just 31 at the weekend.

Speaking about the visit to fellow panelists Charlene White, Janet Street-Porter and Kéllé Bryan, she explained: "At the end of yesterday's show I was in a dilemna myself; I thought 'I really want to go round and see Brenda myself' but I didn't want to intrude because I'm not family or whatever, although I've known Brenda for many, many years.

"So we all got some flowers and we all signed a card and I thought I would just drop it in as I was going home. And I got there and I just thought I'd knock on the door and just leave some flowers and the card there and just say that we were all thinking of you.

"But Tanisha came to the door and said, 'Oh no, come in - mum wants you to come in.' Brenda was sitting on the stairs on the phone and she said, 'Go in, I'll come in in a minute.' And then I went into the kitchen and made a cup of tea and she came in and said, 'Don't cry!' I said, 'I promise I won't cry.'

"But I don't think it's hit her yet. She's all over the place, isn't she? Tanisha as well, I mean..."

Brenda released a statement yesterday, in which she said she was "completely devastated" by his death.

She said: "It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanish and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world.

"As we come to terms with his passing, we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.

"Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD."
