New Orleans Saints running back Jamaal Williams is the team’s first representative on this year’s NFL Network Top 100 Players list — sort of. Williams was ranked No. 95 on the list as voted by his peers around the league. He comes to New Orleans from Detroit after the best season of his 6-year career.
The Lions gave Williams the highest workload of his career, and he rewarded them by crossing 1,000 rushing yards for the first time. He was less of a part of the passing game, instead fully focusing his efforts on rushing, which is a reversal of his usage with the Green Bay Packers in years past. In addition to a career-high in yards, Williams also led the league with 17 rushing touchdowns.
Williams might have been the first Saint to make the list, but he certainly won’t be the last. There’s a chance he won’t even be the last Saints running back in the top 100 once the full list is revealed.
