The Golden State Warriors have surged up the standings in the Western Conference following a perfect 5-0 homestand, and the defending champions are hopeful that Steph Curry’s return is nearing.
Curry and teammate Andrew Wiggins have both missed extended time, but ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Curry could return on the Warriors’ upcoming three-game road trip.
While Kevin Durant’s move to Phoenix has shifted the balance of power in the West, ESPN’s Jalen Rose believes that the Warriors are in “pole position” to knock off the Suns and the West-leading Nuggets in the playoffs.
“The Denver Nuggets and the Golden State Warriors have the best teams in the Western Conference. And when you look at the standings, guess what fellas? The Golden State Warriors will be playing the Phoenix Suns in the first round. And you know the answer to the question? I’ll give you one. Steph Curry is my answer.
I believe the depth and the experience of the Golden State Warriors will put them in position to eliminate the Phoenix Suns in the first round – and I ain’t stopping there. They’re going to play the Denver Nuggets in the second round. I’m picking the Warriors to win that series too!”
