Jalen Ramsey sounds off on anonymous exec, star CBs chime in on Twitter

There isn’t much debate that Jalen Ramsey is the best cornerback in the NFL, and many would even say he’s the best DB currently playing. He certainly believes that, and his resume backs it up: five Pro Bowls, three first-team All-Pro selections and 15 interceptions in six seasons.

But one AFC executive told ESPN that Ramsey is “falling off and a little overrated at this point.” Ramsey caught wind of those comments on Twitter and it sparked a conversation about where he stands among the best cornerbacks in NFL history.

Ramsey responded with a tweet saying it’s funny how “people try to find ways to get me from being top dawg,” calling the comments by the anonymous exec “comedy.”

Ramsey then went on to point out how there aren’t many cornerbacks in history who have made five Pro Bowls and earned three first-team All-Pros in his first six seasons like he has. He said there are only about two players in history with a resume like his, before saying “if that tbh” in a following tweet.

That caused Richard Sherman to chime in. Sherman was undeniably one of the best corners of his era during his prime, picking off 26 passes and making the Pro Bowl four times with three first-team All-Pro nods.

Sherman says he and Patrick Peterson should be in the conversation with Ramsey, to which the Rams CB said they’re both Hall of Famers.

Aqib Talib was blown away by Sherman’s numbers, as was Darius Slay. They both responded to Sherman’s tweet in awe.

Even Stephon Gilmore, the only cornerback since 2010 to win Defensive Player of the Year, joined the debate, pointing to his own hardware.

Ramsey is one of the most confident players in the league, regardless of position. And if he continues on his current path, he’ll be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

There’s a ton of talent at the cornerback position right now but it’s hard to put anyone ahead of the Rams’ All-Pro.
