Jalen Ramsey shows love to Sean McVay, Rams in Dolphins introduction

The Miami Dolphins introduced Jalen Ramsey with his first press conference on Thursday and while most of the questions were about his fit and thoughts on his new team, he did make a few references to his old squad, the Los Angeles Rams.

Ramsey has shown no ill will toward the Rams throughout the process of him being traded to the Dolphins, thanking them on his way out of Los Angeles when the deal was made. And on Thursday, he showed love to Sean McVay and several of his teammates for what they accomplished over the last three-plus years.

He feels the experience he gained around Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford and others will be valuable as he joins a team that could use a veteran with a championship pedigree.

“Being around Hall of Fame players. Aaron Donald, Von Miller, Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford. The list can go on,” he said. “I don’t want to leave nobody out, but all those guys. Learning a lot of valuable things from them, learning how our team dynamic was, learning how everyone had their own passion, everybody had their love, but we were all doing it as one. Everyone was unified, we always had each other’s back. It was really like a family. It was good times, it was bad times, it was fights, it was love. It was all that.”

Ramsey was asked what it’ll be like to go up against Tyreek Hill in practice, and he mentioned the value of facing an elite receiver every day, just like he did in L.A. with Kupp.

“I really embrace being on a team with a really good, elite receiver,” Ramsey said. “I was blessed when I was in L.A., obviously, with Cooper Kupp. But we didn’t always get to battle it out all the time. But I know Tyreek, he’s got that mindset, too.”

Ramsey is going from one young head coach, McVay, to another in Mike McDaniel, and he’s excited to play for the new staff in Miami. And though McDaniel keeps telling him he’ll be the best coach Ramsey has ever had, the All-Pro corner knows that’ll be tough to do because of how great McVay was.

“He keeps telling me that he’s gonna be the best head coach I’ve ever had,” Ramsey said of McDaniel. “He’s nudging Sean on that a little bit because Sean was great in L.A. It’s gonna be tough because Sean’s the man, but I believe him, though. And I’m gonna hold him to that.”

Ramsey loved his time in Los Angeles, but he’s clearly ready for his next challenge in Miami.
