Jalen Hood-Schifino says he’s been working on his 3-point shooting

When the Los Angeles Lakers took Indiana University guard Jalen Hood-Schifino with the No. 17 pick in June’s draft, fans were intrigued.

At 6 feet, 6 inches and 215 pounds, he has size and length, not to mention passing and facilitating ability and a nice mid-range game.

Hood-Schifino showed flashes of what he could become during NBA Summer League play, but overall he was inconsistent with his shooting, especially from 3-point range.

He has had nearly two months since the end of summer league play to work on his game, and he told The Athletic he has zeroed in on his perimeter shooting.

Via The Athletic:

“I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress. Being in the gym every day, getting up a lot of reps, working on my footwork, my form, mechanics and everything. Getting everything sharp. That’s definitely been a strong point and something that I’ve been really attacking every day.”

The incoming rookie also added he has worked a little with famed Lakers player development coach Phil Handy, who has done wonders with other players, including forward Rui Hachimura.
