New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson made his NBA Three-Point Contest debut Saturday at All-Star weekend in Indianapolis.
Brunson was among the first wave of players eliminated from the event, and it seems there were some fans in attendance rooting against the Knicks star.
Speaking on his new podcast The Roommates Show with co-host and New York teammate Josh Hart, Brunson revealed that he heard someone in the crowd talking trash to him, calling him an “effing bum.”
When he looked back to see who was chirping at him, it turned out to be none other than his own father, Rick Brunson, who was clearly not pleased with Jalen’s performance.
“I heard some dude behind the bench, some bald guy sitting behind the bench, I heard, ‘Yo, you effing bum,’” said Brunson. “Who said that? My dad.”

“He was like, ‘With that bonus we could’ve finished my basement,’” Brunson added, speaking of the $50,000 prize allotted to the winner of the event.
Rick is a former NBA player himself, having spent nine years in the league from 1997 to 2006. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Knicks.
Despite not leaning heavily on the three-ball during his own career, the 51-year-old was clearly hoping for a stronger showing from his son in the competition’s opening round.
Brunson scored 24 points in the first round, but it wasn’t enough to extend his stay in the event, prompting some rather hilarious antics from his father.
