After the Denver Broncos were knocked out of the NFL playoffs with a 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Jan 12, former quarterback Jake Plummer took to social media to share an encouraging message for fans.
“So, hey Broncos Country, I know that was a tough loss,” Plummer says in a video posted on his Twitter/X page. “Not what we were hoping for, but look back to the beginning of this season when we had a quarterback we didn’t know much about. It was questionable whether he could do it. We had a young team with no leaders [and] we weren’t picked to make the playoffs, and here we are playing on Sunday in the playoffs.
“Yes, we saw the Buffalo Bills [win], but they spent some time building that organization and building that team. … So keep your heads up, we’ve got some pieces of the puzzle in place. Now it’s upon the general managers, it’s upon the personnel upstairs to do the right work to bring in the right players, and then obviously [for] the players to get better. Bo Nix [will] go and take some time away, but then come back and work on what he needs to get better at. And [we’ll] find a few other little pieces of the puzzle to keep growing this thing and hopefully have a perennial playoff contender.”

Plummer pointed out that the Broncos got beat in the first round of the playoffs in the two years leading up to 2005 when the team then went on a run to the AFC title game.
“Keep the faith, keep your heads up,” Plummer said. “Enjoy the fact that we’re still watching ball this late in the year. My hat’s off to those players. I hope they get healthy and get ready to get back to work when the time’s right.”
Plummer went 39-15 in four years with the Broncos. He left the club in 2007 with the best win percentage (.722) in franchise history. That mark was later broken by Peyton Manning (.790).
After going 10-7 in his rookie season, Nix will now aim to follow in the path of the QBs that went before him and help Denver make a deeper run in the playoffs in 2025.
