Jake Paul warned his Conor McGregor fight offer was too complicated

Jake Paul has been told he should have offered a less complex deal to fight Conor McGregor in the UFC.

The YouTube star made his latest offer to the promotion's kingpin Dana White as he continues to call-out the Irish MMA legend. In exchange he asked for White to agree to proposals regarding fighter pay and healthcare while agreeing to donate his purse to the lowest-paid fighters if he lost.

UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes Paul's offer did not fall on deaf ears, and has praised the YouTube star's growing reputation - but felt he should have simplified the deal. "There was something different about this (offer) because Paul is a massive draw and Conor is a massive draw," Sonnen said on his YouTube channel.

"I wish that Jake would have made the challenge and laid out, I wish he would have stopped right there. Instead he threw a few things on it to sweeten the deal, there was a few different things he put on it so Dana can now not just look at it and say 'yes'.

"Let's set all of this stuff you want to come to the negotiating table with later and just back up. If Jake Paul will come to the UFC to fight Conor McGregor, what weight class? That's all we really need to discuss at that point.

"Because that is the only thing that is going to influence Dana White, are we doing this or aren't we? So there is no reason to put it out there and no reason to have that part of the story. I don't mind the idea of this but I don't want any of the other stuff put on. I don't want that to be what they are for fighting for."

Paul has called for a bout against McGregor since the start of his recent boxing career and is confident of securing a stoppage over the Irishman. He finally provoked a response from his counterpart on social media after heaping criticism on his training footage upon his return from injury.

It remains to be seen whether McGregor can realistically face Paul with the YouTube star suggesting he would only be able to make weight at 175lb due to the notable size difference. Sonnen has continued by suggesting that the fight works and believes that Paul has now built a reputation since his first call-out two years ago.

"Jake and Conor works, that fight works for me," Sonnen continued. "Jake is not an easy night out, that is why that fight didn't work two years ago when he first started calling for it.

"Turns out Paul is a badass and he is big and that changes things. There is a lot of boxers that get checked here and he is willing to go out and do and even part with his money, and also his ego and reputation. That works for me."
