Jake Paul is planning to overtake Conor McGregor as the highest-paid athlete in the world after earning £33million last year.
The YouTube star earned lucrative purses for his three fights in 2021 against Ben Askren and two meetings with Tyron Woodley.
His rival McGregor was ranked way above him however reaching the pinnacle of the Forbes sports rich-list with earnings of £132m.
Paul is determined to get one up on his rival this year and believes that McGregor continuing to "lose" will benefit his own plans to overtake the UFC star.
"For sure," Paul told the Disrupters Podcast when asked if he planned to overtake McGregor.
"Without a doubt he doesn't even fight anymore, he just loses I guess. You can only fight so many times when you are losing every time."
Paul earned a significant portion of his wealth from two bouts against former UFC champion Woodley, ending their rivalry with a brutal KO in the rematch.
Meanwhile McGregor earned £36.3m from just his fighting exploits in the UFC last year losing to bitter rival Dustin Poirier twice.
However a significant source of income came from the majority sale of his whiskey brand Proper Twelve which generated around £100m.
This took him top of the Forbes list for 2021 ranking ahead of the likes of football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Despite Paul's earnings being estimated to be around £33m from fighting, he has claimed his net worth is over double after taking into account his investments.

"That is just what I made from boxing [$40 million]," Paul told Fox Business. "I made some more on top of that from brand deals and advertisements.
"That is not including my crypto investments, NFT investments, Metaverse investments. If I were to cash out, yeah I have probably made an extra $60 million on top of that just from my investments last year if I were to liquidate it.
"I put money into Bitcoin when I was sixteen years old but I am a long term holder so I can add to the retirement fund. I have my team at Morgan Stanley and they handle all this stuff.
"I am more into the Crypto side of things and they tell me what kind of traditional stocks I can put into."
McGregor also has a significant business portfolio also owning Irish pub Black Forge Inn in his native Ireland.
