Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury cancelled with Tyron Woodley confirmed as replacement

Tommy Fury has pulled out of his fiercely-anticipated bout with Jake Paul on December 18th, with Jake Paul confirming the reason is due to a 'medical condition'.

The two fighters have exchanged fiery words throughout the year and gone head-to-head in the aftermath of their previous bouts in Cleveland, with no love lost between the pair.

It has resulted in a fight that many were looking forward to but Fury has pulled out and will be replaced by Tyron Woodley, Paul has confirmed.

Fury's reason for pulling out is stated as due to a 'medical condition' but Paul has accused his opponent of being 'scared' and a further explanation from the Fury camp is expected.

UFC star Woodley was defeated by Paul in Cleveland earlier this year, on a night where Fury was victorious against Anthony Taylor, and could now receive the rematch he has been calling for, according to the Sun.

Fury's preparations for the bout on December 18th have encountered numerous setbacks, with the Manchester-born fighter initially due to train in the United States but returning to the UK for personal reasons.

He has since been training alongside his half-brother Tyson and father John but camp was affected again following confirmation that Tommy had caught a cold.

For his part, Paul has always suggested he had doubts as to whether the fight would go ahead and told Fury to 'make sure he shows up' during the pair's foul-mouthed press conference.

It remains to be seen whether a fight would be back on the cards for the future or what route Tommy goes down, with a decision to pull out likely to attract criticism.

On Sunday night, Woodley's Instagram story had an intriguing post where he shared a picture of a phone call with an unnamed person - which is widely believed to be with Paul's camp.

The picture was accompanied by a message that read: "Very blessed and thankful. God doesn't keep count of our transgression towards him. Remember that next time we are unforgiving."
