Jake Paul 'to fight Tommy Fury' in August as he hands Brit second chance

A fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury looked dead and buried after it was cancelled last December, but the pair could meet in a rescheduled bout this August.

Paul announced yesterday that he will return to the ring for the first time this year on August 13. The 25-year-old hasn't fought since knocking out Tyron Woodley last year, as the ex-UFC champion filled in for Fury after he withdrew with a broken rib and chest infection.

Fury will now get his second chance at the fight according to YouTube news show host ' Keemstar ', who was also the first person to report the news of Fury's withdrawal from his fight with Paul last December.

"What I'm hearing from my sources that Jake Paul is going to be in fact facing Tommy Fury. It looks like Jake is going to give him another chance," he said.

Paul recently laid out a six-man hitlist for his next fight that included boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and now-retired UFC champion Michael Bisping, but Fury's name didn't make the cut.

Fury admitted having mental health struggles and being in a " dark place " after withdrawing from his fight with Paul. The 22-year-old returned to action on the undercard of his brother Tyson's world title fight last month and he called out Paul after his win.

"Jake Paul, this should have been done a long time ago in December and if you want it I'm here and I'm ready for you. I'll cut you and chop you to bits just like I did there, get the contract signed you bum, let's get it done once and for all. I'm going to end your career, you're a bum and you're no good," he said.

Paul, who lost millions from Fury's withdrawal last year, has labelled the Brit as a "mediocre" boxer. The 25-year-old admitted discussions are ongoing with other opponents, but he could "knockout" Fury quickly to get him out of the way.

"I want to see the Anderson Silva fight [on May 14 in Dubai] and how he does, how he looks," he told Mirror Fighting. "There are other talks with Mike Tyson and other names under the table so really we're just looking for the best opportunity. For me, Tommy is an easy fight, so maybe I'll just run it up, get a quick knockout and then move on from there, But maybe not."
