Jake Paul threatens to sue Tommy Fury after dad "exposes" reason he pulled out of fight

Jake Paul has threatened to sue Tommy Fury after his dad John claimed the Brit currently weighs 231lb just days after he was forced out of a fight with the YouTube star.

Paul was scheduled to meet Fury on August 6, but the fight was cancelled after the Love Island star was unable to guarantee that he would be allowed into America after being refused entry last month. Fury would have needed to make the cruiserweight limit of 200lb for the fight, but his dad John recently revealed his son was overweight and needed to get fitter during his preparations.

Fury would have needed to lose 31lb in just a month to make weight for the fight and Paul has now claimed his rival only pulled out because he was overweight.

"I should sue this fool. Own dad exposes why he pulled out a second time," Paul wrote on Twitter whilst quoting John's recent comments.

Since Fury made his professional debut in 2018 his dad John has been helping him each step of the way, but the 58-year-old admitted he was unhappy with his son's preparations. "Tommy wasn't exactly in training. He'd only had about 10 days because he'd been on holiday and it was a surprising thing for him," John added.

"I was a way out of it doing these tours and being busy elsewhere so I never got the chance to look at it properly. When I've paid attention, I noticed the whole thing wasn't right anyway. I said ‘Okay, it is what it is, if you want to go over there and box him, do it. You're experienced enough now and it's a 50/50 platform.

"'I know you could be fitter, you're overweight, but it's entirely up to yourself because I'm busy and I can't do it.’ So, he said 'Okay then, I'll do my own thing and I'll go fight him anyway because I can beat him.' At the minute we're just working on cardio and weight loss because he's something like 105kg at the minute. He's got to get right down to about 90, so he's got a bit of work to do.”

"He needs a good eight week camp, I'll tweak him up whenever I can when I'm home for a few days here and there during the tour. I can have a look in and see what he's doing. Beating Jake Paul is not a problem. We don't look at him as any kind of a threat at all. I think [Tommy] realises now that he's got to get full time training."
