Jake Paul tells "desperate" Carl Froch his terms to set up fight with ex-world champion

Jake Paul has told Carl Froch to fight Anderson Silva and "grow his name" in the United States if he wants to secure a fight against the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Paul, 26, is scheduled to fight bitter rival Tommy Fury on Sunday in Saudi Arabia after two previous bookings between the pair have fallen through, but that hasn't stopped him from teasing a potential fight with Froch down the line. Paul has told the "desperate" former world champion that to set up a fight against him, he must increase his fanbase in the US by fighting UFC legend Silva.

"You seem pretty desperate, you seem like you want money and that's why you're talking all this s*** out of nowhere at your age," Paul said of Froch to BT Sport Boxing. "He needs to grow his name in the US because not many people know him. For me to make big fights, they have to be a draw in the US because that's where my fanbase is big, so that's why I said fight Anderson Silva and we'll see what's up."

Froch, who held multiple world titles at super-middleweight during his career, has vowed to send Paul "into f***ing orbit" if they meet in the ring. The Brit retired from boxing after knocking out bitter rival George Groves in their 2014 rematch to defend his world titles, but could be set for a return if he is to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul.

Paul thinks a meeting between Froch and Silva would be a "big fight", but the Brit has played it down by insisting he has "too much respect" for the UFC legend. 'The Problem Child' has promised to fight Froch if he faces and beats Silva despite recently confirming that another UFC legend in Nate Diaz would be his next opponent.

“I think it’s great, he sounds desperate for money. It’s like a money play, he’s already envisioning that we’re fighting in his head and trying to get the bag. He probably, like most boxers, spent his money improperly. Fight Anderson Silva first, prove yourself, because you’re older, let’s see if you can actually still bang," Paul told talkSPORT of Froch.

"I’m gonna get through Tommy, you get through Anderson and then that’ll be a big fight. As far as I’m concerned, not a single person in the United States knows his name, so fighting Anderson Silva would help him build up that reputation. That’s my offer. I just don’t think he could get through Anderson Silva, and him versus Anderson is a big fight. If he proves he can do that, I will fight him, no doubt, guaranteed."
