Jake Paul suggests new surname bet for Tommy Fury if he loses grudge fight

Jake Paul has suggested rival Tommy Fury should change his surname to 'Mae' if he loses their showdown this month.

YouTube star Paul has been set to meet Fury on two previous occasions, but the fight will finally take place in Saudi Arabia on February 26. In the first instance that the pair were due to meet, Paul put up an extra $500,000 on the line for his rival providing he agrees to change his name to Tommy 'Fumbles' if he is defeated.

The fight never materialised with Fury pulling out after breaking his rib, but now the showdown is back on, Paul has devised a new plan. He tweeted: " Tommy Fury is going to have to change his last name to Mae in 14 days." The new surname that the YouTube star has proposed is in reference to the Briton's partner Molly-Mae Hague who he met on reality TV series Love Island.

The pair then shot to huge fame, with Paul regularly dragging Hague into their feud including leaking the news that his rival's partner had given birth to their new daughter Bambi. Despite the new public bet yet to having been made official yet, Paul had previously drafted a contract for the name-change plan ahead of that cancelled December 2021 meeting.

However despite making the agreement public with Fury willing to go through with the added financial incentive, he insisted that the contract was too childish for him to sign as he demanded the payment to be made into a separate account upfront. "It was like looking at a child's contract, but I said 'ok no problem,''' he told MMA Fighting.

"Put the half a million in an account so that when I win, straight over no games, But did he want to do it? No. So I thought 'hold a minute, if you're not doing this, you think I'm gonna change my name?' Not that it would have happened anyway, but business is business.

"I would have done that no problem because I ain't losing this fight, I'll just take another half a million from you. Jake Paul says a lot of things for the public. "He said that just to get the public going, but when behind closed doors between managements I was game for it and said put the money up in an account, he didn't want to do it."

Fury is expected to be under huge pressure to win the fight given his natural background in the sport, in addition to having WBC champion brother Tyson in his corner. However his famous sibling has insisted that he will be left in the Middle East if he is unable to do the business and secure a win over the high-profile influencer.
