Jake Paul shows off black eye he suffered in boxing defeat by Tommy Fury

Jake Paul has been left with a black eye from his defeat by Tommy Fury.

The YouTube star finally had the opportunity to settle his rivalry with the Brit in Saudi Arabia at the weekend, but he came up short after losing by split-decision. Fury dominated large portions of the fight but Paul threatened to make a late play to be ahead on the judges scorecards with a late knockdown.

However it was the ex-Love Island star who had his hand raised having shown the better boxing skills on the night, which saw him land almost double the punches of his rival. Paul has responded largely well to the defeat and has posted several stories making fun of his loss on his Instagram page.

In his most recent one while flying home, Paul danced to a song by former Disney co-star Olivia Rodrigo while sporting a black eye on his right eye which was clear for fans to see. The influencer then continued his jokes by asking his brother Logan if he had jobs available as a WWE tag-team partner or on his podcast.

Paul had vowed to end his rival's career on the night but was unable to produce any breakthrough opportunities to find a big KO as he did against Tyron Woodley. The 'Problem Child' had already began planning fights against Nate Diaz and KSI but those appear to be on the back burner.

He will likely face Fury for a second time having had a rematch clause inserted in the fight contract which he confirmed he intends to activate. And Paul has suggested he was simply unable to land his shots against Fury, comparing his performance to his first split-decision win over Woodley.

Paul said: "He is exactly the fighter I expected him to be. But it was a reflection of my own performance. The game plan was to keep the pressure on him, don't stop jabbing and sharp on the defence. We knew he was going to be good from range, get him with that check hook."

"I didn't really land the right hand flush which is why it was tough for me to get my best shots going. I don't know what it was but I didn't have that energy so I guess that happens. I felt like this in the first Tyron Woodley fight, that fight I wasn't able to pull it off. But it happens in the sport.

"I do think the rematch is huge. Congratulations to Tommy man seriously, he is a great and powerful fighter. He showed a lot of heart tonight, and I feel this was one of the first times he was tested in a fight. We did big business and for that reason the rematch is going to be even bigger."
