Jake Paul returns to training as "big announcement" is teased for boxing career

Jake Paul 's coach has teased a "big announcement" as the YouTube star gears up for his return in August.

Paul has been taking some time away from the boxing ring to promote Amanda Serrano's undisputed lightweight title fight against Katie Taylor next month. No opponent has yet been revealed for Paul's return to the ring later this year.

'The Problem Child' has won each of his five professional fights to date with four of his wins coming by stoppage. The 25-year-old fought three times last year, knocking out Ben Askren and beating ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley twice.

Paul's trainer, former world title challenger BJ Flores, revealed he will return to Puerto Rico in April to help Paul with his preparations. "Time to get back to work. Returning to Puerto Rico in two weeks. Big announcement soon," he wrote.

Flores has served as Paul's head coach ever since the YouTube star ditched his internet fame to take boxing seriously. The 43-year-old retired from boxing in 2018 after being dropped six times in his final bout.

Paul had been scheduled to fight on Tommy Fury, brother of heavyweight world champion Tyson, last December but 'TNT' was forced to withdraw due to injury. The fight could be rearranged for August with Fury set to appear on the undercard of Tyson's world title clash against Dilian Whyte on April 23.

Another option for Paul is former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The son of the Mexican legend is open to the fight, but Paul has labelled his potential opponent as " cuckoo " after he demanded more than £2.2million for the bout.

Fury has accused Paul of being " scared " to reschedule their fight and was unimpressed by the American knocking out short-notice replacement Woodley. The 22-year-old will hope to improve to 8-0 if he fights next month to try and lure Paul into a rescheduled clash.

Paul has explained that Fury should try and fight his former opponent Woodley to help set up their fight. "I sort of want him to fight Tyron Woodley and see what happens there," Paul said on The MMA Hour. "I think Tyron would knock Tommy out, so, I almost want to have them fight

"Tommy, people only know him because of me, and so I want him to go get some of your own fans, or clout, or go do some other thing. Then, maybe we could run it back after that.”
