Jake Paul has been offered a fight with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
Paul made an offer to the promotion's president Dana White last week which would see him take on Conor McGregor as part of a one-fight deal. Paul offered to donate his purse to the lowest-paid UFC fighters if he lost - and if he won he would expect White to improve pay and healthcare for his stars.
White was lukewarm about the idea and ruled out signing the younger Paul brother to his organisation - and insisted he is too big for former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor. But Usman, who is currently recovering from hand surgery, has been put forward by his manager for a fight with Paul at a 185lb catchweight.
"I wasn’t even talking about you, but if you are so tough and you say you have a wrestling background, you come to the UFC at a 185lbs and you have a fight in your hand with the pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman," wrote Ali Abdelaziz. "I know Dana White would love to see your face get smashed."
The offer came about after Abdelaziz had suggested a boxing match between McGregor and Usman. The Irishman claimed last week that he will demand a title shot against Usman on his return from the broken leg he suffered against Dustin Poirier last summer.
If Dana thinks it will be an unfair fight between Kamaru and Conor, maybe it’s a good opportunity to start the launch of Zuffa boxing and we have to stop talking about these fake fighters from boxing," Abdelaziz said, referring to White's ill-fated plan to promote boxing fights.
Paul then replied: "Do us all a favor and shut your peanut head ass mouth. The only thing fake is your boy Usman’s boxing skills. He won the belt from Tyron Woodley by decision. You seen what I did," referring to his brutal sixth-round KO of Woodley in their rematch last December.
Paul and Usman have traded trash talk before when the Nigerian initially dismissed the YouTube star - before performing a U-turn.
“These guys are making a lot of noise," Usman told Club Shay Shay. "They got the YouTubers and they got this new generation, these new kids involved and watching them. That’s fine, but they don’t equate to dollars.
" Jake Paul says ‘we doing these numbers.’ You can add up every fight Jake Paul has had, but the pay-per-view numbers weren’t more than what I did in my last fight. Write me a check for $100 million, Jake Paul and I’ll be there to kick your ass next week.”
