Jake Paul instructed to cancel Tommy Fury fight amid 'game of chicken'

Jake Paul has been told to cancel his fight against Tommy Fury after the Brit was stopped from travelling to the US on Wednesday as he was stopped by border control when trying to board a flight at Heathrow.

This has put the fight in jeopardy, with it set to be hosted at Madison Square Garden in New York on August 6 and it being currently unclear as to whether Fury will be able to make the trip. All travellers to the USA need a valid ESTA, which Fury explained in a social media post that there was an issue.

This comes less thank a week after the fight was confirmed and is the second time that Fury has pulled out of an event alongside Paul. The original fight was scheduled to be taking place in December before the Brit pulled out due to a combination of injury and illness and now Paul has been told not to fight Fury.

UFC legend Chael Sonnen says that it is time for the fight to be cancelled, tweeting: "Please stop this game of chicken. If Paul offers to take fight to UK there will another reason that pops up. Let the guy slide. This never should have been pursued. It’s mean spirited and feels wrong even by my incredibly low standard."

Paul, however, seemed keen to still get in the ring with Fury as he explained in a tweet. He wrote: On Twitter, Paul said: "Tommy, no matter how hard u try to get out of this fight, I’m going 2 do everything in my power 2 not let u weasel ur way out. My team & my partners have made it clear the steps u need to take 2 solve ur latest excuse. Take them or admit ur a scared little b****. #TommyFumbles."

Fury will now face a race against time in order to obtain an ESTA before the fight takes place in six weeks time. There has been no word as to how this may affect the co-main event, which features Amanda Serrano fighting against Brenda Carabajal.
