Jake Paul has revealed his team has been in touch with Canelo Alvarez's lawyer over a potential clash with the world champion.
YouTube star Paul has fought six times in the boxing ring as a professional, taking on the likes of former UFC stars Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva. He remains undefeated and has frequently expressed his desire to become world champion and continue his undefeated streak in the ring.
One of Paul's long term ambitions is to take on Mexican star Alvarez who is considered among the sport's pound-for-pound best. And Paul has revealed he has held talks with the undisputed champion's lawyer as he looks to soften up his stance ahead of a potential future showdown.
"We have talked to his lawyer and I think he is getting to a place where he sees how serious how I am," Paul told Anthony Pompliano in an interview while discussing his desire to fight Alvarez. "I think at first everyone thought this was a joke and my mouth was bigger than my actions but now they are matching.
"Especially if a fight is a year from now or two years from now. I am sparring people that were in both of their training camps for the trilogy. I am sparring Golovkin's sparring partners, I am sparring Canelo's partners. [Ron] Ellis, all of these guys and I am sparring people from both of their camps. They came out to my camps.
"I think the fight with Canelo would be an entertainment spectacle. I don't think anyone has got into Canelo's head and I feel that I can, I think that is an iconic fight to make and it would shut the internet down. I think he thinks he can whoop my a** and that I am just a YouTuber kid."

Paul is trying to step up his levels in both sparring and in the ring, having previously touched gloves with former world champion Steve Cunningham in training. One of Paul's heavy criticisms is that he has yet to fight an opponent with a natural background in the sport despite being heavily linked with fights against Hasim Rahman Jr and Tommy Fury.
The 'Problem Child' has supreme confidence he can get to the top and has stated that he intends to challenge for a world title in the coming years. And his coach Danny Smith believes the YouTuber can crack the top ten of the world rankings providing he is fighting at the correct weight.
He said: "So defence is a huge factor in surviving in boxing. I know for sure that we're not going to be at cruiserweight. He's going to come to light heavy. 175. We've just been fighting at the 190-192lb limit. He's just floating around that weight. But he will be a 175 pounder and he will crack the top ten."
